             What  comes to mind when somebody asks you whether television is also giving us disadvantages ? Are you going  to say “yes” ?
           But, what did we use to do before television existed ? Television has been with us for a long time and I think people have already begun to forget what the world was like without it. Before it existed, people used to enjoy simple pleasures. For instance, they probably used to have hobbies, entertain their friends and be entertained, go out for amusements to theatres, cinemas, restaurants, and sport events. They used to read books, listen to music and the radio. But many of those belonged to the past. Now, almost all of our free time is regulated by the “goggle box”.
           Let’s think of what people do with the presence of television. Information can be absorbed easily and everything  can be visualized. Some people feel that it is a must to watch TV to be well-informed. Television programs are considered a cheap source of information and entertainment. Watching TV program could be an easy way to release stress. We can also improve our general knowledge by watching and listening to the news and other educational programs. Of course, there are many advantages we can get by watching TV.
          I like watching TV very much. I guess it is one of my hobbies and my interests. It is true that television is providing us with many advantages. However, recently, I started to think about the drawbacks.  So, if somebody asks me whether television is giving us disadvantages, I must answer,  “Yes, TV is also giving us disadvantages!”   It is also possible that those disadvantages could give us a bad influence.

WAGE RUDOLF SUPRATMAN
            Supratman, son of Indonesian colonial army instructor, was born on May, 1903. He had five sisters but no brothers. When his father retired from the army, the family moved to Cimahi. At the age of seven, his father sent him to “Boedi Oetomo” elementary school, where he proved to be one of the bright pupils. In 1992 his mother died. Two years afterwards he joined his sister in Ujung Pandang. His sister added “Wage Rudolf” to his name so it became “Wage Rudolf Supratman”. She did this to enable her to send him to the Dutch elementary school (HIS). He joined in the second year.
          Completing his elementary school he continued his study at the Teacher’s Training school. He graduated in 1920 and became a teacher. In 1923, the government appointed him to teach at Singkang, another town in South Sulawesi, but his sister objected. At last, he resigned. He worked in a lawyer’s office for a year, and then he went to Bandung and work as a journalist. One year later he moved to Jakarta and worked for the “Sin Po” newspaper. He married Mujenah in 1926, but had no children. After ten years of marriage, they divorced.
           As a journalist, W.R. Supratman got in touch with many Indonesian nationalist leaders. Besides, he was a musician and a composer. His father taught him to play violin when he was young in Ujung Pandang. He composed several pieces of music. “Indonesia Raya”  or Great Indonesia, was one of them. He composed it in 1928. The song was first introduced by him at the Indonesian Youth Congress held on 28th October 1928  in Jakarta.
            Wage Rudolf Supratman died on 17 August 1938 and buried at Kapas cemetery in Surabaya.

Cars Should Be Banned In The City
Cars should be banned in the city. As we all know, cars create pollution, and cause a lot of road deaths and other accidents.
Firstly cars, as we all know, contribute to all most of the population in the world.
Cars emit deadly gas that causes illness such as bronchitis, lung cancer and ‘triggers’ of asthma. Some of these illnesses are so bad that people can die from them.
Secondly, the city is very busy. Pedestrians wander everywhere and cars commonly hit pedestrians in the city, which causes them to die. Cars today are our roads biggest killers.
Thirdly, cars are noisy. If you live in the city, you may find it hard to sleep at night or concentrate on your homework, and especially talk to someone.
In conclusion, cars should be banned in the city for the reasons listed.
